Danish Klejner

Ingredients
  • 750 ml water
  • 300 g icing sugar
  • 300 g butter
  • 5 g cardamom
  • 50 g honey
  • ½ lemon zest and juice
  • 6 eggs
  • 250 ml water
Instructions
  1. Mix all the ingredients together.
  2. Leave to cool in the fridge for a few hours or over night.
  3. Roll the dough out until it is about 5 mm thick.
  4. Cut the dough into small diamond-shaped strips, 5x5 cm. Then make a lengthwise cut in the middle of each, and pull one end of the piece through the hole to make a knot. Here is a video to show you how: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bFxUgTYhlo
  5. Cook/fry in oil until they are golden.
